ICP: Is What You Need to Know!

The UCF has used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to analyze, align, and harmonize content since early 2014 (and we have the patents to prove it). AI is nothing new to our process.

Our use of AI in the mapping process has greatly evolved. We can now acquire and provide content through APIs, making our system more flexible and responsive to the needs of today’s digital landscape.

The ICP has three layers. The first layer consists of the overarching processes of cataloging, analyzing, Aligning, and harmonizing, which we have used for the past 19 years. This mapping process has been foundational to our success since the beginning.

The second layer encompasses various AI-assisted activity sets, ranging from AI Auto Scraping to AI-assisted audit mapping. As new technologies like Generative AI (GAI) continue to develop, along with the associated usage rights, there is a growing need for more granular and sophisticated methodologies for ingesting and sharing GRC and SecOps content.

The third layer focuses on the content elements created and managed by the ICP. These elements are represented visually in the UCF’s data structure, which we provide through the CCH and API. While many of you are familiar with Authority Document catalogs, Citations, and Common Controls, there are additional elements within the UCF that you might find surprising.

Each layer of the ICP works together to deliver a robust and scalable AI-driven solution for managing and sharing content across multiple platforms and frameworks.

UCF Updates: EU AI Act

The EU AI Act was recently mapped and published. A good thing indeed. The AI Act is the first-ever legal framework on AI, which addresses the risks of AI and positions Europe to play a leading role globally.

Shaping Europe's digital future, the EU AI Act is now in our Common Controls Hub (CCH) as: “REGULATION (EU) 2024/1689 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 13 June 2024 laying down harmonized rules on artificial intelligence and amending Regulations.

(EC) No 300/2008, (EU) No 167/2013, (EU) No 168/2013, (EU) 2018/858, (EU) 2018/1139 and (EU) 2019/2144 and Directives 2014/90/EU, (EU) 2016/797 and (EU) 2020/1828 (Artificial Intelligence Act).
